POSITION SUMMARY

 

A Staff Canteen Chef is required to work in our diverse kitchen at The Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, Edinburgh under the guidance of our Executive Chef. As Canteen Chef you will be required to not only prepare the food for the staff canteen but also manage the service of it during meal periods. The role also includes food safety due diligence, ensuring the cleanliness of the canteen area and maintaining a Covid secure environment as well as stock ordering, menu planning and dietary needs. The canteen serves food to a high standard using all fresh ingredients in a buffet style set up. The menus are rotated weekly in order to keep the dishes fresh and exciting for the staff members. In this role you will also may be expected to support other aspects of the kitchen operation when required

 

The Staff Canteen Chef works 5 days out of 7, including weekends between 10am and 7pm.

 

Salary: £24,627.20

 

Requirements:

 

We are looking for someone who is ready to take the next step on your career path. Ideally you will have at least 1-2 years’ experience within a kitchen environment.

 

Our expectations of you will be that you are able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team and have a strong desire to improve on your skills and knowledge as well as:

 

· Be knowledgeable of classic food preparations, dishes and cooking.

 

· Have experience in high volume kitchen operation.

 

· Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation.

 

· Full awareness of all menu items, their recipes, allergens, methods of production and presentation standards.

 

· Assess quality control and adhere to service standards and HACCP controls.

 

· Seek own solutions to the minor obstacles that occur from time to time

 

· To project a pleasant and positive professional image to all contacts at all times
